Any foreigner intending to stay in France more than three months
after his arrival
must be allowed to do it. The document which gives concrete expression
to this license is the residence permit. For the foreigners who
do not meet the necessary conditions to obtain a ten-year residence
permit, temporary residence permit is delivered; it is the case
of the students whose the residence permit must be renewed every
year. It carries the mention corresponding to the status, mostly
student or student-pupil (sometimes student - trainee, student -
wage-earner…).
