When you go out
Always have your passport and your residence permit with you as
well as your student card in case of identity check.
Have copies of your passport, visa, successive residence permits
(including receipts), summons of the prefecture, student card. Make
them certify at the city hall and keep them with you. They can be
used as documentary evidences especially in case of loss or theft,
or if your consulate delivers you a new passport. Certain students
prefer to go out with these copies guaranteed rather than with originals
to lose them. But they risk, during a possible identity check, to
be held until the police check the originals.
