Different services to consult
The registrar's office : If every UFR possesses a registrar's
office, there is in every university a central registrar's Office,
sometimes so called Division of the teaching. It is this service
which
organizes the administrative registrations and delivers student
cards. It manages the FAVE (Fund of help to student life) and grants
subsidies to associations and student unions. It also deals with
managing the files of request of preliminary admission and preregistration
of the foreign students.
University service of information and career
advising (SCUIO): You will meet this service of your
university spelled with extremely varied initials : SUAIOP, CAIO
or still SCUIO. Whatever its name, it is always a reception, information
and orientation service. The best place to know the subjects of
studies proposed by your university and their outlets, it provides
you with a documentation and gives advice on the different university
programmes and on the choice of a training in a professional perspective.
The SCUIO publishes generally free booklets on the various diplomas
; sometimes even, a specific guide for the foreign students. Most
have a room of auto-documentation on the subjects and the professions,
where you can also consult non-specialized and professional newspapers.
Within the framework of this service, it will be possible for you
to make an appointment for an personalized interview with a guidance
counselor, to review your studies, elaborate an adapted plan of
training, consider changes of programme. Certain SCUIOs also offer
job and training period ads and is interested in the professional
future of the students by proposing them an insertion assistance.
You will find the addresses of universities, each having its own
SCUIO, in our Address book.
University social services : On
most campuses is a permanence where you can make an appointment
with the social workers of the Crous. Their role is to help the
students who meet difficulties of any orders (psychological, domestic,
financial…) and to look with them for an adapted solution. They
also inform you about the different services of Crous (flat, grants,
cultural activities…) and tell you, if you meet the conditions required,
about the steps to make.
Careers advisory centers (CIJ): The
CIJ, regional or local, are places of meeting, of reception and
information, for all the young people, students or not. The staff,
information officers, propose an real help to the young people who
come to meet them Every centre gathers together a big quantity of
practical information in extremely varied fields : teaching, professions,
employment, leisure activities, sports, holidays…
The CIJ publishes and diffuses index cards of information and lists
of addresses about temporary employments, trainings, lodging. Thanks
to the small advertisements which they propose, you will find tracks
for a job or a flat. At the national level, the CIDJ, in Paris,
