Telephone

Public telephone : There are two types of phone booths : with coins (fewer and fewer) and with cards.
You can buy these phonecards (about 50 or 120 units 7,62-15,24 euros) in the Post offices, in tobacco shops.

To call a correspondent
In France
The phone numbers are of ten figures. The first two correspond to the geographic zone. To phone in France from abroad dial 00 then 33 then the phone number of the correspondent without the first 0.
Abroad
The classic method : dial 00, then the international dialling code then the area code then the number of the correspondent (you will find the area codes of countries in phone books or on Minitel : 3617 PAGES I). But if you wish to pay less for your communications abroad you can buy a " pre-bought " card. This card, through a personal code, allows you to call the whole world from any telephone, and at rock-bottom price. Today, they are available at numerous storekeeper's. Take care of playing the competition to benefit from the most advantageous rates, among the various operators.
